*Pre-K TEACHER’S AIDE*
*DUTIES*
Responsible for the care and supervision of children ages to 2 ½ years to 5 years old.
Provide functional classroom support.
Follow and assist with classroom lesson/activity plans.
Assist in documentation of service provided, progress reports and attendance records.
Build positive relationships with children and families.
Assist the Lead Teacher with classroom duties (e.
g.
, Participates in the creation of developmentally appropriate lesson plans and activities; Teach basic skills, such as color, shape, number and letter recognition, personal hygiene, and social skills, etc.
).
Prepare and maintain reports (e.
g.
, progress reports, attendance records, etc.
).
Participates in meetings with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress and needs, determine their priorities for their children, and suggest ways that they can promote learning and development; Support children's emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts;
Read to children and teach them simple painting, drawing, handcrafts, and songs; Organize and lead activities designed to promote physical, mental, and social development, such as games, arts and crafts, music, storytelling, and field trips; Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities.
Maintain a safe, clean, and sanitary play environment: (i.
e.
, clean and sanitize classroom, take children to the bathroom, assist children with toileting needs as needed, serve meals and snacks, read to children, supervise children).
Observe and monitor children's play activities; Clean and sanitize toys and play equipment; Instruct children in health and personal habits, such as eating, resting, and toilet habits; Organize and store toys and materials to ensure order in activity areas; Assist in preparing food and serving meals and refreshments to children; Supervise children's nap time; Accompany children on field trips and routine bus transportation to and from school.
Responsible for the care and supervision of children if transporting.
Other duties as assigned (e.

, Maintain adult/child ratios for multiple age-groups (Toddlers, Preschool, School-age)).
*QUALIFICATIONS*
* High School Diploma
* Must pass a criminal background check
* Must successfully complete a physical
* Some training, experience and/or interest in child development preferred
* Willingness to update job knowledge with required ODJFS Licensing Rules and SUTQ professional development opportunities and industry trends
* Must be prompt and reliable in reporting in to work
* Must complete First Aid & CPR within 90 days of hire
* Must complete 6-Hour Communicable Disease & 6-Hour Child Abuse training within 90 days of hire
* Must have a genuine love of children
*PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS*
Must complete 6-hour ODJFS web-based on-line childcare orientation, 1-hour ODJFS Child Abuse Prevention web-based on-line training, and 1-hour ODJFS Transportation web-based on-line transportation training.
