4+ years of professional analytical work experience including experience providing reporting and analytics of basic to moderate complexity.
Advanced skills in Excel with knowledge of spreadsheet functionality including v-look-ups, pivot tables, charts, graphing and macros.
Strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills.
Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills including persuasive skills resulting in the ability to interact with all levels of stakeholders and present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner.
Experience analyzing problems and performing basic financial analysis gained through previous projects and assignments.
Experience in developing business cases and communicating business needs and project specifications.
Ability to collaborate with cross-functional team (at all levels of the organization) to achieve desired results.
Experience using SQL or other advanced analytical tools such as SAS.
Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, statistics, mathematics, or related field or commensurate insurance experience.
Experience with Personal Lines products, underwriting, and/or pricing principles.
Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record that conforms to company standards.
Working knowledge of insurance product distribution and pricing strategies.
Physical essential functions: ability to work 40 hours in an office environment (sitting, standing, on a computer, etc.
), operate office related technology (computer, phone, etc.
), travel as required.
Performs moderate to complex assignments to understand country-wide performance and helps identify out of pattern trends at the state/agency level.
Gathers and reconciles data from multiple resources to identify potential inconsistencies across multiple reports.
Leads analytical efforts for growth and profitability by states within our product lines.
Analyzes profit/loss results for existing products and reviews actuarial trend analysis to optimize pricing and coverage programs.
With a high degree of quality, independently extracts and manipulates data from various sources to analyze trends, identify/understand key drivers and monitor results against expectations.
Develops and evaluates expected business impacts due to planned initiatives.
Monitors and reports on initiative performance against those expectations.
Conducts competitor and marketplace analysis and research to identify insights and opportunities to improve Westfield’s product offering and pricing position, and proactively provides information to key stakeholders (e.
g.
Underwriting, Sales, etc) Contributes to the actuarial rate review process for assigned states/product lines.
Assists the PL Product Manager(s) in analyzing, managing, and driving profitable growth for PL.
For assigned areas of responsibility, analyzes and evaluates product performance metrics to form recommendations regarding market opportunities, risk appetite expansion, and innovative product enhancements.
Leverages existing reporting protocols and establishes new and consistent approaches to reporting.
Collaborates with both Actuarial and ARC analysts; ensuring strong partnerships and consistency.
Develops recommendations and presents findings to various levels of leadership.
In collaboration with Product, Actuarial, and Underwriting leaders, evaluates the impact of premium development programs on pricing.
Assesses the impact of implemented premium development programs.
Measures results of premium generation programs and recommends modification of strategies, as appropriate Benchmarks Westfield products against competitors.
Analyzes and understands historical competitors’ position, rate, and product actions to assist in predicting future competitors’ actions.
Supports PL Product Manager in identifiying shifts in the marketplace and market opportunities and advises leadership of potential implications for Westfield.
Supports PL Product Manager in development of detailed business cases that support new product launches and planning forecasts which predict market responses to changes in the product portfolio.
Conducts research and analysis and identifies opportunities to enhance the product portfolio or grow our business profitably, including the introduction of new products and enhancements to existing products.
Gathers or works with third-parties to gather, intelligence on competitors’ products including, but not limited to, rates, coverages, risk selection criteria, customer service standards, market share, growth strategies, marketing incentives, and commission structures, in support of new product development, maintenance of existing products, the rate change process, and other product and service initiatives.
Uses network of contacts with specialized expertise to acquire data and intelligence, as needed.
Performs general insurance market research for internal employees of Westfield as needed, in alignment with generally accepted R&D processes.
Shares ideas and serves as a subject matter expert for teams working to implement changes to the product portfolio.
