SR GIFT OFFICER, ORGANIZATIONAL GIVING | LORAIN, OHIO Reporting directly to the Market President, Foundation, the Senior Gift Officer for Organizational Giving manages all aspects of fundraising from private foundations, government grants, corporations, and/or other grant-awarding bodies.
Identifies, cultivates and manages the relationships with key institutional funders.
Responsible for submission or reporting and pre/post award activity of funds granted.
Manages an active portfolio of institutional major gift prospects of $50,000 or more to support capital and programmatic needs.
This position works collaboratively with local and ministry wide senior Foundation staff and executive clinical leaders to develop the strategies that support the Bon Secours Mercy Health’s strategic plan.
Essential Functions Develops the plan for and presents the results of organizational giving, monitoring the timely and accurate implementation of institutional fundraising tasks and activities, reporting on progress toward Foundation and Campaign financial targets.
Develops and implements strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward prospective major institutional/organizational public and private sector donors ($50,000+), in conjunction with Market President, Foundation and Foundation team.
Executes an integrated program of organizational prospect identification, prospect research, and donor management to meet overall Foundation revenue goals, in collaboration with the System Director, Research and Analytics.
Directs activities of external consultant(s) for supplemental grant writing and federal grant seeking to identify and provide new high-ROI institutional prospects.
Ensures compliance with donor funding guidelines and manages post-award activities and budgets.
Works closely with operational performance team to track all grant-funded programs and activities, and report appropriately.
Collaborates with System Director of Grants to identify and secure system level grant opportunities.
Manages external relationships to position system for successful funding by public and private institutional sources.
Working closely with Market President, Foundation and gift officers, implements stewardship and cultivation strategy for institutional private and public sector funders resulting in measurable improved donor retention and increased giving levels.

REQUIRED Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal arts, public relations, marketing, communications, business, or a related discipline Demonstrated success in identifying, cultivating and securing private and public foundation, government and corporate support.
Proven critical thinking and strategic planning experience.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with senior level executive experience.
Demonstrated level of accomplishment in discerning fundable programs and appropriate matches with funding sources.
Demonstrated success in personally cultivating, soliciting, stewarding, and closing major and defined fund gifts from institutional funders.
Demonstrated ability to effectively represent the Foundation to external audiences through the use of strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
Knowledge of research tools techniques for identifying institutional funding opportunities.
Knowledge of compliance issues and legal requirements of restricted organizational grant funding.
Strong editing skills and attention to detail.
Ability to manage, budget and forecast contributions and related expenses required.
Passion for the mission and enjoy leading and collaborating with a development staff and working with volunteer boards.
A strong work ethic with demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
Experience using Raiser's Edge, online directories of funders and/or other fundraising software.
PREFERRED Master’s Degree in Liberal arts, public relations, marketing, communications, business, or a related discipline Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) 5 years related experience is required.
Experience in healthcare philanthropy is strongly preferred.
