This position will report to the Production Manager in Wooster.
POSITION SUMMARY The Production Supervisor is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the production processes during the assigned shift in order to produce industrial fabrics that meet or exceed specifications and customer requirements in a timely manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Other duties may be assigned.
• Supervise associates, providing leadership and guidance; assign and coordinate work to associates according to business needs and associate's skill, ability, and experiences.
• Promote and demonstrate safety on the job, support Seaman Safety Way, Milliken Safety, an active member of a Safety Sub-Committee or Project Team and a trained First Responder.
Participates on Incident, Near Miss and Safety Investigations on a weekly basis.
• Conduct informative communication meetings with production associates on a regular basis concerning Safety, Quality and Productivity.
Effective communication to supervision and management; actively participate in scheduled production, quality, and management meetings.
Practices the Six Management Actions as well as actively supports CARE Quality Commitment Principals.
• Promote Lean Sigma Initiative by actively participating in Kaizen activities to achieve continuous improvement; Ensure 5S is completed according to schedule, keeping all work areas clean and organized; See that QCDS boards are kept up to date in all areas.
• Prioritizes and plans work activities; Plans for additional resources; Organizes or schedules work assignments (including job assignments due to PTO, sick or personal absence).
Directs any unresolved problems to Management.
• Aid in problem solving and troubleshooting to minimize equipment damage, downtime, and poor-quality products.
• Handles the personnel activities appropriately for all associates scheduled during supervisor’s hours (i.
e.
, timekeeping, attendance, PTO scheduling) following company policy and guidelines.
Follows through on problem resolution to alert or obtain approval for the matters beyond his/her authority.
• Trains and coaches associate in proper work habits and procedures based on the Skill Block Program guidelines to keep focus on quality and productivity improvement.
Routinely schedule discussions with associates to discuss progression and goals for advancement in skills and/or skill level.
• Conduct effective Performance Reviews on a regular basis using Performance Management software to define and set measurable/challenging goals in order to position for skill advancement and discuss training/development opportunities for future opportunities; and recommends personnel actions, such as promotions, transfers, and disciplinary actions.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Associate degree (A.
A.
) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, or five years related experience and/or training.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • Ability to read and interpret sales orders, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write reports and correspondence and to speak effectively with customers.
• Knowledge of Oracle Manufacturing software, Microsoft Office Excel, Word, Outlook, and Performance Management software SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES: This position supervises manufacturing associates.
